Michael Dawes

Director

Michael Dawes has been Director of APT since the Trust was started in 2010. He is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Trust, the performance of the various programmes, oversight of trust finance and administration, and the identification and new opportunities to work with disadvantaged rural communities. In order to do this he has the backing of a competent, dedicated and passionate team of professionals. Michael is also Secretary for the Market Linkage Association (www.marketlinkages.com), a position that he has held since the commencement of the fore-runner Working Group in 2008. Prior to his career in development he worked at the Tobacco Research Board (1992 to 2003) where he attained the position of Head of the Soil Chemistry Department. During his time at TRB he developed recommendations for tobacco production under the drip and centre pivot systems. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture (Natal) (1989) and is married with three children.
